Good evening, friends!
As many of you know there have been renewed calls for censorship on Substack. Here at The Partisan, we take a maximal stance on free speech and condemn these craven calls to abuse our natural right of free expression and thought.
The facts are these.
1) Pro-censors seek out content that upsets them, often content with extremely low engagement.
2) Most of us would never see this content if it were not for the pro-censor’s protests.
3) Pro-censors do not understand the basics of the free speech position, as evidenced by their completely not understanding Substack’s plainly written policy.
4) Pro-censors brook no criticism. Anything above a vain whimper of protest gets you ignored, mocked, and always blocked.
5) Pro-censors disrespect every person on this platform when they demand Substack save us from objectionable, offensive, and hateful content.
We do not need them or Substack to save us from the “bad guys.” As grown, mature adult human beings we are perfectly capable of doing it ourselves.
If Substack respects this, their platform will continue to prosper. As we all wish to see this, I encourage you all to challenge and critique any pro-censor argument you see anywhere and everywhere on this platform.
We fight bad speech with more speech, right up to the gates of Hell and beyond.
Who’s with me?
Spot on, comrade. Appreciate everything you do to call out the hall monitors.
Someone mentioned Chandra Hardy the other day. She's who comes to mind every time.
For someone who was an "anti-racist," bigoted stuff was damn near all she ever restacked.
I would have never seen the stuff she posted on this site -- except when she restacked it.
She was obviously involved in a plot to get more people to view, and respond to goofy, over-the-top bigoted stuff. Chandra Hardy didn't want to see people stop writing bigoted stuff. Hell, she was probably paid to spread it!
She was like a female Jessie Jackson, or Al Sharpton. They don't get mad when they hear someone say bigoted stuff -- it means they get to cash another check.
Frauds all the way around.
