You’re making false equivalencies. Is Ukraine corrupt? Yes. It is also forward thinking and its people are yearning for the Western values of freedom and democracy. They are fighting a dark force in the form of Putin whose goal is to restore the glory of authoritarian mother Russia. That much of Russian soldiers and populace have been brainwashed is not an excuse for the very real tortures being inflicted in Ukraine. The Nazi youth were also brainwashed. The world is small now. The outcome of that war will have significant impact on the type of influence and power spreading in Europe. China is watching how much the world cares and becoming more aggressive in Taiwan. When America is weak and withdraws from key regions, like the Middle East and now Eastern Europe, the vacuum is filled by those who stump out equal rights, democratic elections, and freedom of speech.

There is a lot of propaganda coming out form both sides of this conflict. The Ukrainian side of it I feel they need the morale boost. They are up against massive odds. As for the state on both sides? They can get fucked. I do support the people of Ukraine and there right to live as they choose. I cheer there fight against tyranny. Propaganda like the “Ghost of Kyiv” is useful in that fight. From my own experience I know the effect an air asset can have for the soldier on the ground. The sound of an F-15 or AH-64s rotor chopping the air while your taking fire is uplifting in ways I can not put to words. That being said who I am today and who I was then. We are totally different men. I was a “blind patriot” type back then. I guess the point I’m making is I understand combat and when it’s you and your mates with a rifle in hand and hot led is flying through the air, all the political shit and the states meandering bullshit is the last thing on your mind. Kill or be killed. While I have that understanding I can not imagine what the Ukrainian fighters are up against. It’s a completely different type of warfare. I read an interview last night of a man who served in Iraq. He decided he was going to go to Ukraine and help. In his own words “I’m a veteran. I’ve been to combat before. Iraq doesn’t shine a candle to this. This is what my grandfather was talking about when he said war is a nightmare you can’t wake up from. It feels like the world’s supply of ammunition is being expended here.”
