Hello there!
Welcome to another occasional musing from The Partisan. I am your host, Phisto Sobanii. Today, I’m here to discuss a recent article that appeared in the Washington Post (or as I like to call it and all the rest, the propaganda feeds).
But first, a quick history lesson! There is an apocryphal story about the famed astronomer Galileo Galilei. After the church forced him to recant his heliocentric views, he allegedly uttered this famous phrase:
“And yet it moves.”
Perhaps he said it. Perhaps he didn’t. Regardless, it is a powerful reminder that the words of men, no matter how powerful, do not dictate reality.
Let’s move on to the main event: U.S. charges four Americans with aiding Kremlin efforts
As you can read for yourself, I’ll simply cut to the quick.
“Weaponized First Amendment rights” certainly has a Orwellian buzz to it, no? We’ve seen this phrase before, and with current calls for censorship on Substack, I expect the concept to take further root among the more foolish elements here.
Rights cannot be weapons. They are inherent to our condition as a free, independent people. The exercise of rights, with the abuse of the State considering them anything other than just, free, and fair is a perversion of the highest order.
We know why the State does this (and why censors clamor for it). It exists only for the collection and exercise of power. The anarchist remembers also this truth: the State is just an opinion with a gun (of which the censors are well aware). Of course this angle of attack was bound to come and escalate in action against American citizens - the more vulnerable and easy to attack, the better! After all, those rogues don’t deserve rights… and those… and those… and so on.
What is to be done?
As with anything, attitude is the place to start. Think freely on the subject and condemn the actions of the State however and wherever you can. Free speech is a right inherent to your humanity. Like any natural law, no words of anyone can take it from you. If the State and its craven hangers-on come, remember this.
In other words, to any of the would-be censors out there who model their actions after the church:
And yet, I speak.
I was arguing with one of the pro-censorship crowd the other day, and they finally admitted they don't believe in human rights. They don't exist because they can be taken from us. Very sincere fascists, these people.
Our God given right to say what we want.
