Hello, readers!
Welcome to another occasional musing from an anarchist living in 21st century America. Grab some coffee, take a seat, and thanks for coming along with me one more time.
To business. Behold:

Brought to my attention on the Substack of the illustrious Matt Taibbi, The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression is taking its mission off campus into the wider world. The job is simple: defense of basic principles of free expression, inquiry, and assembly. You know the ones, don’t you? All those beautiful things that lead to the best and brightest in our humble species.
That’s why I’m bringing it up. Free expression is the field we all play on. Without it, there is no progress forward, no opportunity to discover, and no chance to leave the world better than we found it.
In my journeys across the internet, I’m often asked what I stand for. To be fair, I take up arms against a multitude on the regular. Symptom of my anarchism, I suspect. Can’t get to the solutions without finding all the problems first.
I’ll tell you now: I’m for free speech and expression. Like my anarchism, there is no qualification, not buts, no ifs, just the thing itself stated as cleanly and powerfully as possible.
So what? Why FIRE?
I believe they are one worthwhile avenue to support THE first principle of a healthy, worthwhile human society. Check them out. They’re solid. More importantly, if you feel so inclined, give to the cause as I have. Whatever you can contribute, as the saying goes, will go a long way.
Remember, no one is coming, it’s up to us. Support FIRE today and help defend free speech, expression, and the sacred right of all to think as their conscience demands.
love their defense of every form of free speech from tenured professors to students to anyone they can defend, hopefully moderation becomes unprofitable.
FIRE is a great organization. Are you subscribed to their YouTube channel?
