Hello everyone!
Quick note regarding a big change here for us at The Partisan. We’ve turned on paid subscriptions! That’s right, folks, we’re moving into the real deal now. But what does it all mean?
First off, all of our stuff will be free to read forever. No pay walls or other bullshit.
Next, we hope to take your generous consideration and grow our little band of misfit toys. We already have a Discord channel to chat and get to know each other, which we talked about here. Link on the homepage, by the way. Beyond that I’ve got nearly a dozen pieces planned and will release 1-2 per month. Isaiah’s working as well. Your help will help us focus on writing better and better pieces on a wide variety of topics.
Who knows where we’ll go from here, but I can guarantee a good time.
Oh! And don’t forget the ridiculous antics on Notes. Pay for shitposting! Will the modern miracles ever cease?
Thanks again for your time and we appreciate all of you who have read, liked, commented, and restacked our material. This couldn’t be more fun for us, and I hope you keep enjoying the ride.
I am a strong opponent of certain things ---- but I do not mind something like: "First off, all of our stuff will be free to read forever. " I have recently formulated my idea of my own future, assuming that I get up to, say 500 subscribers with 100 are willing to pay me. Here's my deal: I would take $100 per week. Once I got to that level I would freeze it there and find other ways to earn. Not writing Substacks. So, in that case my Substack would ONLY deliver $100 per week. I think that way I would get a few bucks, which is fine, but I would not do anything I am against. As with "The Partisan, this would not include restricting anything, period. I cannot see any excuse for "social" posts that are paid subscriber only. So, Phisto Sobanii can know that I, Jacob, of jacob's Newsletter, am fine with payment to writers, under those guidelines, for certain uses including news, views about our society, etc. Cooking or entertainment or business --- that is different; you do as you please. Substack has to make money somehow. Those lighter, more culturally fickle Substacks about cooking or water sports can run things however they like. That is a good source of money for them and Substack. They can do whatever they like, BUT --- if you are going to discuss society or politics or something that makes a difference to me or that could possibly warn me of something dangerous, well... Look: I am living the society too and as a member of society, I get to read anything about "my" society. Because the society is for all of us. Not just rich persons. So this restriction of news or important social information should be open. Everything on those Substacks should be open. You do NOT get to have your own club when talking about government oppressions or world political news. And I get to be part of the discussion, so if I have something to contribute after reading your ideas, I should be able to, and you must allow it. Sometimes, I do encounter people who suddenly restrict "Comments" after I read it. And that strikes me as strange and I question those people's integrity and I wonder what's up (I wonder if they just never thought it through and I hope it was just an accident). Restricting the after-reading discussion tells me something about you.
Personally, I fear that if I took more than $100 per week it would throw my judgement off. There should be plenty of other creative ways to make money.
Have you ever seen season 20 of South Park? If not then you need to watch all 10 episodes. When you shit post I imagine you as the shit poster SkankHunt 😂😂😂
